As a participant in extended-state DMT research at Imperial College London, Carl has journeyed deep into imaginal landscapes where entities and symbolic languages appear “more real than real.” His current work explores DMT Island, a research hub in the Caribbean where context, ritual, and luxury care create new possibilities for psychedelic science - a “SETI for the mind.”
Holotechnica & Stacking Practices
Carl describes Holotechnica as the art of combining different techne - from meditation to sound design - to architect resonant symbolic experiences. These “stacked protocols” can catalyse lasting transformation and even activate different timelines of possibility.
Journaling as Consciousness Architecture
For over 30 years, Carl has kept a rigorous journaling practice. By writing across content, context, and concept, he maps his own psyche, tracks long-term patterns, and achieves what he calls the overview effect of consciousness. “I write my diary to live my life, and live my life to write my diary,” he reflects.
Seeds of the Future
Asked what seed he would plant for the future of humanity, Carl names humility, kindness, and gratitude. He calls kindness the highest form of intelligence - a reminder that wisdom is measured not in brilliance but in compassion.
